The head of the Salyan regional organization of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Alizamin Salayev, who was administratively arrested, has been on a hunger strike since the day of his arrest on July 7. He stated this today to his lawyer Neymat Karimli.
Salayev is protesting against the unjustified arrest for 30 days and the loss of jewelry from his son’s car. He also stated that on July 14 he began a dry hunger strike.
The attempts to get comments in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were futile. Salayev was detained on July 7 in a park in the city of Salyan, where he was holding a protest against the seizure of his son’s cars by the traffic police and the loss of jewelry from the car.
A. Salayev’s son, Ogtay Salayev, said that he works as a jewelry master and there were client’s items in his car.
On July 13, the Shirvan Court of Appeal rejected A. Salayev’s complaint against the arrest.
